"Yesterday's immigrants, today's voting citizens"

The International Immigrants Foundation is engaged in an aggressive national campaign to promote a general legalization of undocumented immigrants for the year 2000. The project brings together multicultural community leaders, inter-faith churches, elected officials, the media, and the public to advocate for this very important issue.

The first step that the Foundation has taken in this process is to establish a Legalization Task Force of community leaders, which help to organize events and provide the grassroots movement that is needed for this effort to succeed.

Secondly, we are building the momentum for this aggressive campaign through monthly vigils, press conferences, public service announcements, and other events.

Thirdly, we are making presentations of thousands of petitions to the members of our Congressional Delegation. Eventually, we hope to make a presentation of over 1,000,000 signed petitions from all throughout the United States to our President.
