Hundreds of
people still do not know what happened with
their loved ones when they crossed the border
coming into the United States. The drama
undocumented people go through by using this
means to enter the country will get worse with
the construction of a wall at the border with
Mexico.
After debating immigration reform for two years,
it is only the construction of this Border Fence
that has been approved. The Act calls for the
construction of this wall on 1200 kilometers at
the border with Mexico, which will force the
immigrants to enter the country legally or
venture into more dangerous areas risking their
lives when they try to cross. This is on top of
the extreme desert temperatures, the crossing of
the river and abandonment from the coyote’s
part, as well as other dangers that makes raises
the number of victims every day.
As we can see, injustices against human rights
are committed in the name of homeland security.
The solution for homeland security is not to
construct border fences, but to legalize the
immigrants already in the United States and to
implement a program for temporary workers that
is practical and provides quick approvals to
motivate future immigrants to take part of the
American life legally.
Don’t allow your family members or friends to
become another annual statistic of victims
crossing the border. For this reason, start your
immigration process as soon as possible. I also
recommend that you to contact your senators and
congressmen and rally in favor of a
comprehensive immigration reform that will
benefit honest and working immigrants that
contribute to the economic development of the
United States.
